Chiling weekend

Well...exactly the opposite actually!

We went hiking early Saturday morning. Got up at 6.30am and was out of the house by 7.10am, "flew" to the meeting point at Selayang and were the first to arrive! HAH!Drove to Kuala Kubu Bharu town (its a liddul town) and had breakfast at a Hailam restaurant and my MUCH needed coffee. Then off we went to Chiling waterfall (actually its called the Sungai Chiling Fish Sanctuary).

Geared up and marched on in

...registered, paid

and crossed the bridge to an easy 45min "walk"/"hike".

Er....we kinda took the wrong path from the very begining and thought it was a bit odd to be climbing practically on all 4's. So after about 10mins of strenous uphill climbing, someone finally spoke up and said that we might be going the wrong way. A few guys went up ahead to see if they could see the river...halfway up, we met some other hikers coming down..who told us there was nothing up there but a big rock.

So backtracked to the start...found the right track and continued on.

It was a easy walk all the way to the first river crossing (there would be 5 crossings). The water barely came up to our calves.

Crossed it with no problem at all.

Was funny having to walk through the river with sand in my sandals. So after the second crossing, we decided it was easier to just take our shoes/sandals off and walk barefooted instead. So much better!

The water level at some crossings were as high as my waist...but then it was not too difficult.

We finally reached the waterfall...and it was still quite empty with just about 3 groups of people.

Some of us went into the water...some didn't. Max and I went halfway in. Hahah!

Just standing in the water...close to the falls was already pretty chilly.

After the crowds started flooding in, we decided to hike up further to a higher part of the falls.

So Up, up, Up we went...that was pretty treacherous!

But when we got there, it was so relaxing...the only other group of people were the Singaporeans we met on the wrong track. So we lepaked there for a good while.

We headed down around 1+ and got back to the car at around 2...headed straight home and crashed. I lolled off in the car so many times, I can't imagine how Max could still stay awake to drive.

I woke up with a start at 7.30pm and bolted out of bed. We had to go for Nate's birthday dinner @ 8pm! Luckily the restaurant was just near my place and we got there in good time.

Terri & Nate

Boy, do we look tired.

Had a pleasant dinner with the lot and enjoyed the after dinner jazz band entertainment.

Woke up early again on Sunday and headed for a dimsum breakfast before going to UCSI for my career fair duty. The turnout for Sunday was pathetic....we had a total of 3 students (who also happen to be in the Career fair organizing team) who enquired about my company...and 2 more who just passed their CV to every booth (so technically, that doesn't count).

When Eleanore got there, she decided it was better to pack up and leave than to stay on for the rest of the day and waste our time.

Max picked me up and we headed to Pavilion coz he wanted to get some t-shirts from Cotton On. Apparently, according to him (dun belif) I took 1 whole hour deciding on singlets. BAH! That's not true! I ended up buying 4 tops and a set of earrings! Ok la, I admit...the last 2 tops were bought in 10 mins (including trying on). Oh yea, and a scarf too (hey it was only RM15 with a min purchase of RM50 - me thinks).

Ah...the highlight of they day was when it suddenly started to pour as we were at the checkout at TMC supermarket. It was so heavy, there was a flash flood. We could not step out of anywhere without getting our feet soaked up to our ankles...

Since I had to go over to the pharmacy to get some Deep Heating rub (yea, our muscles were aching from the hike) and also wanted to pack some food home, we had to get wet. Max left me to go to the pharmacy while he went to bring the car round. When I got to the entrance of the pharmacy..i noticed my squishy shoes were frothing! Yes, it was hella embarrassing. I stood there perplexed. I didn't want to go in...coz it was so dry inside and I was practically soaking! and my shoes were lined with white foam! It must have come from the insole I inserted (the shoes were a size too big).

When Max came to meet me (he didn't get the car coz he realized I had the free parking ticket), he couldn't help laughing at me! Idiot. On top of that, he made me go into the Pharmacy on my own...Idiot x2. So embarrassing, seriously.

So, while chosing between like 10 brands of the same product (yes i am fickle), the electricity went out. *groan* But I thought "great! now no one would notice my frothing shoes!" and "now wat am i gonna do? - standing in pitch darkness. Suddenly the light from a mobile phone illuminated the darkness...and it was my knight in shining armour!

Bought the cream..headed home and rested for a bit before heading out to Carrefour to buy a showerhead.

Pooped!

I must say, we really MAXIMIZED the weekend.

PHew...i think i'll take a break next weekend.

But am really looking forward to another hike!

I LOVE THE OUTDOORS! NATURE!

Bring it ON!
